At Monkey Puzzle Golders Green, we are proud of the diverse clientele we have, with families from almost every continent across the world. We pride ourselves in catering to their needs be it in food, events or curriculum and celebrate diversity as often as possible.

Our children are taught the British Values of Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty and Mutual Respect and vote for the activities they want to do, learn about each other’s religions and cultures, celebrate events from every religion and learn to respect classroom rules and routines every day.

We regularly have our parents get involved in cooking classes, talking about Eid, Hannukah, Holi or Easter, read stories for the children in different languages, share culture bags and family photos and much more. We take children into the local community, be the local fruit shop, post office or library and teach them independence from an early age.

Mother’s and Father’s Day (Not to Mention Grandparents’ Day!)

We can’t quite train the children to serve you breakfast in bed, but we do like to help them make these days more relaxed and memorable for you. So we like to put on Mother’s day tea parties and Father’s day barbeques. All of our parents are welcome to come and take part in the activities, get their faces painted and have their photos taken.  This will also give you a great chance to see what kind of fun learning games we have, what songs we sing and how your child plays with all their friends, as well as being a great opportunity for a good chat with your child’s key person.

Parent’s Evenings

Parent’s evenings are an important part of how we get your input into your child’s development and update you on their progress through their time with us. These are held twice a year so you can sit down with your child’s key person and discuss your child’s development, their time at the nursery and any opportunities we have for improvement and development.

Social Events

We have a monthly events calendar covering key national and religious holidays and celebrations. The activities every month are linked to these and the social events we have are often organised around the time of such celebrations such as Christmas, Notting Hill Carnival, Summer Fair, Coffee mornings at the start of new terms and many, many more. We try and encourage parents to get to know each other, organise playdates outside of nursery and keep in touch even after their child graduates. Our Ofsted report says “The Manager is very supportive to parents and provides endless amounts of advice to ensure parents comfortable and happy to leave their children” – March 2018

Trips

We try to make our nursery the most amazing place for your children to learn and play, but not everything can be achieved in one place! To help broaden our curriculum and keep things exciting, we like to organise little trips out. Some of our favourite places so far have been our local parks, the post office, library, local religious locations, Tesco and we have even had the police and fire brigade over! All the locations we go to are checked and risk assessed by staff prior to the trip and we also like to make sure there’s plenty of adults to keep the children safe whilst they explore and have fun. Parents are more than welcome to help out and volunteer on such trips, as it really helps us provide a better and more comprehensive experience to the children and provides another chance for us to get to know you and vice versa!

School Readiness

We work closely with local public and state schools to ensure your child is ready for the next stage of their lives. Not only do we employ qualified teachers to work with the preschoolers, but we also invite head teachers of local schools to visit us and meet the parents every year. The manager visits our main feeder schools to make sure the parents and children have all the information they need in ample time and we do uniform displays, teacher visits and lots of related activities to ensure children know what to expect. The graduation party is a big celebration with the families and key workers and the children have a fabulous send off with a keepsake from us. Each child also gets an Early Years Profile summing up their progress at nursery to take to their Reception Year teacher at their Infant school.
